Please use the USSSA age calculator to determine your age group. USSSA uses a May 1st cutoff date, so kids with summer birthdays may be able to play multiple age groups. For example, a child in 3rd grade generally plays 9U. But a child in 3rd grade with a birthday after May 1st could play 8U or 9U. Let us know which age group you are interested in when you sign in at tryouts.
PHBC offers teams from 6U-14U. Note that the 6U kids will play 7U and will be intermixed with 7U players.
There is a $150 tryout fee. This fee will be refunded if your child is not offered a place on a team. If an offer is made, the tryout fee will go towards the yearly dues. Tryout fees are nonrefundable if an offer is declined.
Club dues are $400. This includes uniforms, field usage, and league fees. Your $150 tryout fee will be applied to your yearly dues. There WILL be extra fees for tournaments and travel, but these costs vary by team, and many teams do fundraise to offset extra costs.
This really depends on the team. Some teams will play 2-3 tournaments, some 8-10+.
Many tournaments are local! Tournament fees are not included in club dues, but many teams offset these costs with fundraising.
PHBC makes every effort to place kids on teams at the appropriate level to promote player development and success. Team placement for current PHBC players is based on player evaluations, stats, and tryout scores. For new players, tryout scores determine placement. If you are attending PHBC tryouts and have played for another club, you are welcome to submit player stats.
PHBC does strive to place every player on a team to give kids an opportunity to play, but this depends on numbers. We try not to load teams with more than 12 players to maximize playing time (exception for 7U teams that may be rostered at 13 since they play 10 players in the field). Older age groups may have more cuts due to skill.
PHBC is open to all youth players that reside in College Community School district or attend Prairie schools. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.
Yes, we have code of conducts that reflect the expectations we already have for our families and coaches.
